How Nature & Music Help Me “UnPlug”
By Molly Morgan RYT500
From hiking in Hocking Hills to camping in Colorado I enjoy all things nature. Being in nature is like pressing a reset button, it allows me to truly unplug from my daily routine and feel a freedom that is incomparable to anything else. I have always grown up with an appreciation for the outdoors, as a kid my parents would take my brother & I, camping, hiking & fishing. My parents would surprise us by taking us out of school on a Friday, the car would be packed, and we would drive to Lake Hope State Park where I created some of my favorite memories. These childhood adventures were always filled with great music which I still deeply appreciate today. Music is a huge part of my life, I try never to miss a good band that rolls through Columbus & I love going to music festivals like Lollapalooza & Bonnaroo. I carry this passion into my yoga classes & truly enjoy sharing my playlists with students. Some of my favorite concerts were Jack Johnson at Hangout Music Festival (on the beach, sun setting… absolutely incredible!), Black Keys at Lollapalooza (only a few rows from the stage!), Charles Bradly, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Alabama Shakes and The Rolling Stones… I could go on and on. Live music, like nature, provides an escape and provokes a more introspective mindset which I find invaluable. The only other place I can find that introspective mindset is on my yoga mat. Over the years my yoga practice has given me clarity and balance, which has changed my life for the better in so many ways. I became an instructor in 2014 when I completed a training with GoYoga in Belize and since that training I have been committed to sharing my love for this practice with others. I provide a space where students can focus on cultivating self- love, becoming more present and finding gratitude in everything. Teaching the Yoga To Live Music workshops as well as the Gratitude Flow on Thanksgiving morning and the 108 Sun Salutations are a few unique classes that I am a part of. As we enter into 2018, I look forward to spontaneous adventures, live music and good company!
